Nems-Clarke was formed by the merger of Clarke Instruments and the National Electric Machine Shops. Satrted by Allen Clarke just after WWII, Clarke Instruments was an engineering consulting firm that used NEMS to produce equipment under subcontract. Shortly after the merger, Allen-Clarke basically took over the whole operation.
